Come Paint in Italy with Thomas Jefferson Kitts
May 17 - 24, 2014

Cost: 1640 -2400 Euros – depending upon choice of room and board. But don't wait, this early discount ends December 31!

Paint en plein air in the sun-drenched countryside of Tuscany. Take your outdoor landscapes to the next level. Stay in a remodeled country farmhouse with sweeping vistas over the hilltop town of Certaldo, where you'll be near Florence and San Gimignano, places we will paint. This workshop is open to the beginning-to-intermediate oil painter and Thomas will offer six hours of instruction a day.

We will take numerous trips to vineyards, farms, and ancient towns so you may paint the history and culture of Tuscany. And each day will end with the group enjoying the pleasures and comfort of outdoor dining, overlooking the countryside, and sleeping in a comfortable bed at night. The week will culminate in a private tour of the Uffizi Museum – which exhibits master paintings by Botticelli, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and others – followed by the rest of the day spent painting in the streets of Florence. You won't need a car for any of these this trips. We will drive you around!

This workshop is a fantastic way to experience the heart and soul of Italy while you concentrate on your outdoor painting skills. It's an opportunity to create new friends and memories for a lifetime!

Essential Alla Prima Techniques:
Portland Edition
January 31st - February 3rd, 2014

This three-day workshop, held in Portland, will teach you how to express light and form in the most quick and immediate way possible using alla prima oil painting techniques. Using the still life and figure, your instruction will focus on how to organize light and dark values into a dynamic composition, how to paint wet-into-wet without losing clarity of color, and how to complete a work of art within three hours – from the first mark you make to your finishing touch!

Thomas’ teaching style includes informative demos, group exercises, and one-on-one instruction with each student. Participants will be encouraged to work quickly and produce at least four paintings over three days.

Note: This is an indoor class. But if you are also an avid outdoor plein air painter this workshop will teach you how to paint more efficiently under changing light.

Registration opens November 11th, 2013!
